Hitting Walls

Like I mentioned in my last post, moving has been challenging.  There was a point, where things seemed so out of control, that I actually began to think we were making a bad decision.  I felt as if every time we thought we had it all figured out, we would hit a wall.
However, it appears to have all worked out... so far...

First - selling our house.  I was not about to list our house with a baby, a Rottweiler, and a Cane Corso living in it.  So, we decided that once we listed, we would leave.  Christian headed to Iowa to begin work, and I wandered.  Yes, wandered.

I spent the first week in a hotel which wasn't bad - Bailey and I had a nice pool and room service.  Our neighbors in our old hood threw an awesome going away party and I then I headed north of Atlanta to my best friend Megan's house for a few days and to celebrate the 4th.  That was fun - her house is so awesome for kids and Bailey had a blast.

After that, I headed up to North Carolina to visit with family and have another going away party.  I stayed there a week or so with the idea that I would then head to Iowa and close on our house there.  Well, I was wrong.  That house eventuality fell through and we were left with our hands in the air like What!?!?!?
Well, I then decided to head back to Atlanta to be there with the packers and movers since that deal was still on.  I left our dogs in Winston with Christian's parents and Bailey and I hit the road back to Atlanta.  I ended up staying with neighbors for a couple days and then headed back up to my friend Megan's house while all of my belongings headed to Iowa to storage.

At this point, we had been out of our house for over two weeks and I was beginning to unravel.  Not to mention, Christian was living in Iowa all alone in a hotel there!  We were all missing each other and we decided it was time to make a move.  I really didn't want to go to Iowa until we had our home, but that isn't expected to happen for another 2 weeks!  We decided that he would fly home, drive the dogs to Iowa (they can't fly) and Bailey and I would fly up and stay in the hotel suite with him while the dogs stayed at a kennel in Cedar Rapids.

The plan seemed like it would work, and then I woke up Sunday morning and my car was making a strange sound.  I waited until Wednesday to take it to the shop because I had to have it Monday and Tuesday with the movers.  I dropped it off that morning and Christian was heading to Atlanta Thursday - with the plan to drive to Iowa Saturday.  Well, late Wednesday I get a phone call saying that my car will be in the shop for a week!!  I just started crying.  How was I going to get my car?  Christian already had a flight and so did I - I explained all this to the dealership.  He said they would give me a complimentary loaner, but I couldn't take it to Iowa.  He then asked, "When are you coming back from Iowa?"  I said, "Never!  I am moving there!"  Then he understood the problem... He kindly put a call out to the regional manager and was able to clear me for a rental to take to Iowa.  He then said they would ship my fixed car to Iowa and pick up the rental - all free of charge.  I was relieved!
Then I got the the rental place....

"Here are your keys Mrs. Cooper!"  I walk out with Bailey to my "car" and my jaw drops.  It was a Chevrolet Spark.  Are you kidding???  I have a baby!  I can't drive this death trap!  Plus, the dogs had to fit in it - but I didn't want to tell them that.  I have a Tahoe and demanded they give me something comparable to what I own.  The dealer agreed but the rental company didn't have any SUV's.  Finally that evening the dealership called and had gotten me a bigger car.  I show up and they pimped me out in a 2013 Suburban!  This thing is HUGE!  So, off we go - in the biggest car in the WORLD!!!  HA!

The plan worked out and Christian made it to Iowa with the dogs.  I on the other hand was flying with Bailey - that is an entirely other story...

We have now been homeless for a MONTH.  Surprisingly, Bailey seems to enjoy this nomadic lifestyle.  She loves the hotel elevators, room service, running down the halls, and sleeping with Christian and I (errrr).  That is a habit that we MUST break when we move into our new home... but in the meantime, she can't resist getting in the bed when she can see us!

Bailey loved this car!
Bailey found some paint that she was not supposed to play with...
She was a little upset when we took it away :(
