Never Again...

If you know me, you know I LOVE the holidays.  This year I had my tree up a week before Thanksgiving and I have been shopping since September.  Since our move to Iowa, we decided we would go home for Thanksgiving and split time between our families - well, Delta had another idea.

Our flight was scheduled to leave at 6am Tuesday - we got B out of bed at 330am and headed to the airport around 4... we had to leave early because of course Christian had to stop by the office ;-/
Anyhow, as we were pulling out of the driveway I said, "It looks crazy scary out here!"  The fog was incredibly dense!   We drove about 25 mph to the airport - LITERALLY!  We had to come to a full stop at exits just to read the sign to see where we were!  It was insane.
Christian then mentions that he doubts our flight will take off - I on the contrary believed that planes don't need to see to fly...  I was half right.

Long story short - they boarded our flight and we sat on the runway... for 3 hours.  Waiting. Waiting. Waiting.  Keep in mind we have a 2 year old in our lap!  Finally at 3 hours they took us back to the gate.  Turns out that planes don't need to see to fly - just to take off and land.
We stuck around another couple hours and realized that we were never leaving.  We went to the desk and rebooked out flight for the same time the next morning.  We came back home, ate, had some wine (God knows we needed it) and went to bed at 7!  We were tired!  At 730, my phone starts blowing up!  It is Delta - "Your flight for tomorrow has been cancelled - luckily we have rescheduled you for another flight at 445 pm"  WHAT!?!?!?!?   I was supposed to be sitting at the dinner table with my family on Wednesday eating turkey, dressing, rolls, green beans... ahhhhhhh...  Since my mom died my sister and I have taken the responsibility of planning holidays and getting everyone together - we had been planning this day for a month and now I was missing it :(

Tears.  I was VIOLENTLY crying.  Christian actually got annoyed because I think I was scaring him...
Well, in the end - we got on that 445 flight and got into Charlotte after 10pm - I had missed Thanksgiving with my family and my dad was leaving first thing in the am to go to Georgia to be with his mom... Oh well... There is always Christmas :)
Luckily we decided to push back our departure and we stayed in Charlotte an extra day and headed to Winston Salem Friday to be with Christian's family for their Thanksgiving.  It all worked out but Christian and I agreed that that is too long of a trip for only 3 days... never again - well, until Christmas... then we plan to do the exact same thing.

Last weekend we went to the Holiday Festival here in Cedar Rapids and got to see some cool stuff - too bad Bailey was in a mood so we had to hold her the entire time :(  On the other hand, we went to the farmers market and got to see Prancer!  Bailey now identifies Santa... we will see what she does when we take her to see him tonight.

Anyhow, things are great here in Iowa - we are looking forward to Christmas and Bailey's 2nd Birthday!  She has a lot of good stuff coming her way :)
